TUTOR

Lina Stein is an Australian-born milliner and hatter based in Westport, Ireland. With a background in classic theatrical millinery, she creates sophisticated hats for both men and women, blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design. For three decades, Lina has been immersed in the world of hats, straws, and felts, driven by a passion to inspire students worldwide to explore and master the art of hat-making.

SUPPLIES

Recommended Supplies

Materials: 
• 1 felt hood / capeline 
(fur felt is preferable but wool felt can be used as well as recycled older felt hats)
• Steel sprung Millinery wire
• Water based / PVA hat stiffener
• 3 ½ m Petersham (1 ½” wide for brim edge binding, head band and trimmings)  
• Embroidery threads
• Sandpaper - medium grit
• ½’ wide floral paper / masking tape

Equipment:
• 1 Dome Crown Block to fit head size + ½”
• Flat Wide Brim Block or a wooden surface suitable for ironing
• Blocking pins or stainless-steel metal sewing pins
• Blocking cord or equivalent 
• 2 Clean tea towels or calico cloths
• Spray Bottle 
• Kettle or Steamer & Steam Iron
• Sewing Machine
